Lois R. O'Connor Obituary

On February 16, 2024 Lois Robbins O'Connor, wife of the late Clair M. O'Connor, daughter of the late Aaron and Sarah Fleming Robbins, sister of the late Nan Maxwell, Arch and Bill Robbins, she is survived by loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lois was a retired employee of Consolidation Coal (Consol Energy) where she spent thirty years as the Exec. Assistant to the founder and chairman, George H. Love. She had been a member of Shadyside Presbyterian Church for the past 38 years and served on various committees of the church. She was an Ordained Stephens Minister in the Presbyterian Church. Her church became her family and those who knew her realized the devotion and love. Lois had been an advocate for women's issues particularly relating to domestic violence, alcohol, and drug addiction. She was a former board member of the Women's Center & Shelter and was instrumental in forming their initial advisory council. Her service was recognized as a recipient of the Ted Craig Humanitarian Award in 1997. She was founder of Homeless Helpers an organization comprised of professional board members. This group was instrumental in establishing the Advisory council for POWER. (Pa. Organization for Women in Early Recovery) She received the outstanding service award from POWER in 1996 and their Window of Hope Award in 2005. Funeral and Entombment are private.
