Thomas Trimm Obituary

After a lifetime of service to his city and family, Thomas William Trimm, 77, of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully March 7, 2024, on the eighth anniversary of his life saving lung transplant.
He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1946 to William Trimm and Gemma Pesci. Whip smart and well-grounded, Tom began a lifelong romance with learning in a one room schoolhouse. He attended United High School and later Washington & Jefferson College where he was a wrestler, a football player, and a proud member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, graduating in 1971.
Tom’s law career of 43 years was underscored by a dedication to equity and justice. First as a partner at Doepken, Keevican, Weiss, & Medved, later as a founding partner of the Pittsburgh office of Pepper Hamilton, and retiring from Dinsmore & Shohl, Tom developed a widely respected Public Finance practice and furthered the municipal development of Western Pennsylvania.
He was a voracious reader, and a passionate storyteller. He captivated dinner tables of friends and bedsides of his children with memories of a life well lived and original tales from fantastic worlds. Endlessly curious, Tom found joy in horses, history, music, and the exploration of new ideas. He was most at home cooking with his family and sharing his infectious laugh with friends. His love for Pittsburgh sports spanned decades, including a 17-year stint as a Pitt basketball season ticket holder. His greatest achievement was his beloved family, where he was known as Tommy, Dad, and Papa. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Prozzi, children Ryan Trimm (Sarah), Michael Trimm (Clarise), and Victoria Trimm, grandchildren Emily Kathryn Trimm and Thomas Trimm, sister Elizabeth Koloshinsky (Regis) and brother James Trimm. Tom was a man who knew exactly who he was. He met all that life threw at him with hopeful resilience
and fortitude. His legacy is one of unwavering integrity. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of a Life on Saturday, April 6th at First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, 605 Morewood Avenue PGH, PA 15213 at 10AM, followed by a gathering at Cioppino, the restaurant he loved so much, at 2350 Railroad Street Pittsburgh, 15222. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Simmons Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, 3601 Fifth Avenue, Falk Medical Building, 4th floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Arrangements by John A.
