On Saturday, April 24, 2021, at age 92, Thomas John Plakidas of Edgewood died peacefully with his daughters by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Marina Plakidas and devoted father to Lynne Klim (Daniel) and Laura Milton (Phil). Proud grandfather of Michael and Matthew Klim and Katherine and PJ Milton. They will miss him greatly. Loving brother to Mimi Chester (late Thomas) and the late James Plakidas (Elizabeth); Catherine Gust (Edward); George Plakidas; and Alex Plakidas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Thomas lived his life to the fullest and was an eternal optimist. He enjoyed working in his garden, baking Greek breads, and thinking up new jokes. He loved spending time with family, friends and neighbors. He served in World War II and loved his country. He was a life-long building contractor who retired at age 80 but never stopped having creative ideas and big dreams. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Tuesday from 2-6pm with Trisagion Service at 4:30pm. Funeral Wednesday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 11am.
