John A. Freyvogel, Sr.

Founded in 1907 by John A. Freyvogel, Sr., the family business was later operated by sons and successors Thomas J.M. Freyvogel and John A. Freyvogel, Junior. Current owners and operators are Licensed Funeral Directors John A. Freyvogel, III and J. Kirk Freyvogel, who continue to serve the families of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities with honesty and integrity. Originally located in the west-Oakland section of Pittsburgh, and eventually relocating to its current venue of 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street in the north Oakland-Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, our family-owned funeral home has a longstanding tradition of providing personalized service at the greatest time of need.

The Freyvogel Funeral Home led the funeral for the first American fallen soldier of World War I. The Enright Funeral was led by our founder and grandfather, John A. Freyvogel, Sr., in 1921.

Mr. Enright was the first fallen American soldier of World War I.
