Alice Seaman Obituary

Alice Marie Seaman, 88, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Born in Pittsburgh to the late Harry and Mildred Nevergold, Alice was a devoted wife and a creative, fun-loving presence to family and friends.

Alice was raised in Homewood and a graduate of Westinghouse High School. Alice was married for 55 years to the love of her life and best friend, the late Edward Seaman.

Known for her deep love of cats and remarkable creativity, Alice devoted many years to lovingly renovating her home in Swissvale and her mountain cabin in Dunbar, PA. They were adorned with her painted furniture, painted ceilings and portraits of her family’s animals as well as her treasured antiques. A lifelong lover of cats, Alice rescued and cared for many throughout the years, sharing her kindness with both animals and family. Her warm spirit, artistic eye, and gentle humor made her gatherings memorable and her home a place of comfort.

Alice is survived by three nieces, Deborah Krotec (Mark), Cathleen DiGioia, (Anthony), and Mary Thompson (John), ten great-nieces and great-nephews, and thirteen great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mildred Nevergold, her husband, Edward Seaman, her sister, Shirley Amodeo and her nephew, Thomas Amodeo.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Mass of Christian Burial, in the Chapel of Sacred Heart Church of Saint Jude Parish in Shadyside at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh in Alice’s name to honor her lifelong devotion to cats.

Alice’s family remembers her as generous, creative, and full of quiet joy – a woman whose home, art, and compassion touched many lives. She will be dearly missed. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com)
