Obituary

Alice Garland McKnight Mackroth, age 106, died in Saint Augustine, FL, on  Sunday April 16,

2023. She was born March 2, 1917, in Pittsburgh, PA, the only daughter of Roy Herd

and Alice Garland McKnight. She was the widow of Captain John R. Mackroth, U.S.N.

ret., the commanding officer of Jacksonville (FL) Naval Air Station from 1969 – 1974,

and Managing Director of the Jacksonville (FL) Port Authority, 1978 – 1984.

She is survived by her daughters Alice M. Minassian, (Varouj Minassian), Shrewsbury,

MA, and Ann M. Hutchison, Saint Augustine, FL, and her grandsons, Christopher

Rawlins Hutchison (Elizabeth), Houston TX, Brian McClure Hutchison (Ron Maggio),

New York City, and John Alec Minassian, Atlanta, GA, and her two great-grandsons,

Mackroth David Hutchison and Noble Frederick Hutchison, Houston TX.

A graveside service will be held Thursday April 27 at 11a.m. officiated by Rev. Jonathon W. Jensen.

Remembrances in her name may be made to Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Ave, Jacksonville FL, 32210.
