Carmella Adorante Kesicki age 94, passed away on Monday August 5, 2024, at home in Pittsburgh surrounded by her devoted family. She was born in Philadelphia to Guerino and Maria (Ferrone) Adorante. After her mother’s death in 1932, her father returned to Italy to his hometown of Casoli di Atri where she was raised by him and her stepmother Nicoletta (Croce) Adorante. After high school, she worked in pediatric nursing in Chieti before leaving Italy for St. Catherines, Ontario and, eventually, coming to Erie, PA in 1957 where she met Robert D. Kesicki whom she married in 1959. They were married for 63 years and lived in Erie and Dunkirk, NY before retiring to Pittsburgh. She worked as a special education aide for the Erie City School District at Perry School for 30 years. A devout Roman Catholic, she was active in her parishes of Sacred Heart in Erie, Holy Trinity in Dunkirk, and St. Paul Cathedral in Pittsburgh. In her latter years she served her church and community as a regular volunteer at Magee Women’s Hospital, Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul Cathedral and a member of the parish’s Ladies of Charity organization. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Henny Adorante. She is dearly missed by her children Daniel (Marcie) Kesicki, Father Michael Kesicki, Father Timothy Kesicki, SJ, Dr. Mary Theresa McDemott and her son-in-law Stephen McDermott. She is also survived by her grandchildren Andrew McDermott and Elizabeth McDermott (Alex Bolton). Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Thursday August 8 from 4-7PM. Funeral Friday August 9, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 108 N. Dithridge Street Pittsburgh, PA 15213 at 10AM (Everyone please gather at Church) Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh or to Gannon University, the Robert D. and Carmella M. Kesicki Endowed Scholarship.
