Carol H. Pilant passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 3, 2021. Born in Los Angeles, California, she married her husband Walter in 1954 and moved with their five children to Pittsburgh in 1963, where Walter taught at the University of Pittsburgh for over 30 years. She is survived by her 5 children, Michael of Texas, Mark of New Hampshire, Michelle and Jeffrey of Pittsburgh and Andrew of Israel. She will be greatly missed by her 10 nieces and nephews, 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Carol was a deeply spiritual woman, a member of the Episcopal Church, and a talented artist working in stained glass, watercolor and oils. She was heavily involved with international women’s programs in Pittsburgh. Carol loved growing plants and watching birds from the comfort of her living room chair. She has gone to be with her beloved husband Walter, who preceded her in death in 2017. Carol will be missed, but forever remembered, by all those who had the good fortune of knowing her. A Memorial Service will be announced in the spring. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com)
