Catherine Rudy Kiefer Obituary
Catherine “Katie” Kiefer passed away on Friday June 5, 2026, at age 96. Born in Pittsburgh on June 15, 1929, to the late Scott W. and Teresa M. (McManus) Rudy, she was the loving wife of Albert H. “Al” Kiefer for 62 years.
Katie was the sister of the late Scott W. Rudy Jr.(Betty) of Lancaster, PA, the late Maryanne “Mollie” Miller (Norman “Mike”) of Los Angeles, CA and Teresa “Terrie” Ray (William) of Johnstown, PA.
She is survived by her five children, Michael Kiefer (Carol Solomon) of Bedford, MA, Matthew Kiefer (Kelly Clark) of Lawrenceville, NJ, Kelly Kiefer Borgeson (Larry) of Albuquerque, NM, Samuel Kiefer (Karen) of Wayland, MA and Daniel Kiefer (Janet) of Murrysville, PA as well as 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Katie was a member of the Class of 1947 at Sacred Heart High School and a proud 1951graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology, where she was co-editor of both the student newspaper and the yearbook. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Katie and Al were married in Sacred Heart Church in 1951. They were active parishioners of St. Bede Church from 1960 to 2005. Since 2007, she has been deeply engaged in parish life at St. Paul Cathedral.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Juniper Village at Forest Hills and the team at Monarch Hospice for their remarkable care and compassionate support.
Family and friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Sunday June14 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Monday June 15, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery Pittsburgh 15237.
