On Thursday May 8, 2025, at the age of 91, Christina G. Krelis passed peacefully at home. She was attended by her loving cousins Peter S. Krelis, Steven P. Krelis, Samantha Krelis Murphy, and Goddaughter, Claudia Chirigos Farmer. The family would like to send a very special thanks to Chalina Watson who helped care for her in the last few weeks. Christina was the devoted and beloved daughter of the late Athena Mandros Krelis and George Panayiotis Krelis; and the beloved sister of the late Georgia G. Krelis. She was also survived by cousins and family, George S. Krelis and family, Kelly K. Dragatakis (Leo) and family, Peter E. Krelis (Rebecca), George Krilis (Cayse) and, the late George P. Mandros and family, pre-deceased by cousins, Peter A. Mandros, Jr., the late Irene M. Petroplus and family, Patricia M. Kazalas, John C. Mandros, and Ernest C. Mandros. Christina was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral where she and her sister served in the Choir for seventy years and was an enthusiastic Food Festival volunteer. She began her working career in retail and then became the executive assistant to the President of Kaufmann’s Department Store in Pittsburgh, eventually retiring as an executive secretary for PNC Bank. Christina loved to cook, entertain and travel the world, having visited Greece 17 times. She loved her church, her family and her country. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Monday May 12th, 3-6PM, with Trisagion Service at 4PM. Funeral will be Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral at 10:00am with a small family viewing and an 11:00am service. Remembrances may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral Building Fund.
