Dean James "DJ" Langas Obituary

With profound sorrow and abiding love, we announce the unexpected passing of Dean James Langas ("DJ") on July 2, 2026, at the age of 35. Born on June 30, 1991, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dean was living in Los Angeles, California, at the time of his passing.

Dean earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain and Information Systems from Penn State University. He will be remembered for his radiant smile and gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved. He had a special tenderness for children and animals, reflecting the kind heart that defined his life.

A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, lifelong cat lover, and proud Greek American, Dean cherished his beloved cat, Exi and remained deeply connected to his Greek heritage and Orthodox faith. Family was the center of his life. He treasured summers in Ocean City, New Jersey, visits with loved ones in Chicago, and the close bond he shared with his younger cousins, Alexandra, Niko, and Athena Renton.

Dean is survived by his loving parents, Athena (Copetas) and Lou Langas; his beloved sister and brother-in-law, Maria (Langas) and Aaron Sandefur; his grandmother, Maria Copetas; his grandparents, Gus and Toula Langas; his aunt and uncle, Vickie (Copetas) and Jay Renton; his devoted aunt, Helen Langas; his cherished cousins, Alexandra, Niko, and Athena Renton; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, Godsiblings, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alex Copetas.

Dean's gentle heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends will forever be remembered.  The love he gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
