Dorthea Fairfax Roddy Seay Obituary

Age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at her longtime residence in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born on March 20th 1931, in Palm Beach, Fla. the daughter of Edward Updyke Roddy jr. and Dorothea Farrell Crosthwaite.
   Fairfax was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Jackson Seay jr. , her son Matthew Robert Townsend Seay, her daughter Elizabeth Courtenay Seay and her step-father Brig. Gen. John Caswell Crosthwaite.
    Fairfax very much enjoyed living in Pittsburgh and was a longtime member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She was a legacy member of the Carnegie Museum Women’s Committee and enjoyed working for many years on the annual Christmas tree exhibit. She loved to garden and was a member of the Garden Club of Allegheny County.
Fairfax is survived by her son Stephen Crosswaite Clark Seay her daughter-in-law, Sarah Lynn Snyder Seay and her granddaughters, Sarah Marie Elise Seay and Catherine Harley Seay. Her Step-Brothers  Edward Updyke Roddy III, Robert Andrew Roddy,
Charles Townsend Roddy.
Fairfax enjoyed her childhood in Florida and went to Graham-Eckes School in Palm Beach. She lived and traveled in Europe with her mother and stepfather as they were stationed in Munich, Germany and Fustenfeldbruck, Belgium. Upon her return, she met her husband Jack at Auburn, Alabama, and married in Montgomery, Alabama. They moved to Pittsburgh and settled into a wonderful, fulfilling life surrounded by a large, welcoming community of friends.  A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held later this year. Fairfax’s obituary will be reposted in the future with date, time and location.
