Eamon Eugene Griffin, 88, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday January 24, 2024.
He was born on April 17, 1935 to the late Terrance Patrick Griffin and Mary Josephine (O’Brien) Griffin. He led a life of service as a veteran of the United States Army and as a Firefighter of 33 years for the City of Pittsburgh. He was an active member of St. Bede's Parish, the Pittsburgh Irish Center, the go-to chauffeur for countless activities, and Pop-Pop extraordinaire.
Eamon is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Jane (Ryan) Griffin, and their five children: Ryan, Sean (Ragan), Coleman (Jennifer), Megan (Joel Keller), Liam (Brigid Laughlin), 6 grandchildren: Aidan, Quinlan, Emmet, Roan, Declan, and Finnegan, and brother Brian Griffin also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin Griffin.
Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Friday from 3 - 6p.m. Funeral Saturday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Mary Magdalene Parish, St. Bede Church 11a.m. At the request of the family, please gather at church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in Eamon’s name.
