Elizabeth Courtenay Seay, 57, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on Friday June 2, 2023.
Born on June 24, 1965 to Robert Jackson Seay Jr. and Fairfax Roddy Seay, Courtenay attended the Ellis School (Class of 1984) and the Philadelphia College of Art were she studied textiles and pottery.
Courtenay pursued her interest in art throughout her lifetime, meticulously crafting jewelry that she gifted to family and friends and sold at markets for many years. Courtenay also had a love of flowers and gardening, lending her talent and time to friends and neighbors to help tend and nurture their gardens. Courtenay also enjoyed working at the Japanese Tea Garden in Philadelphia, where she learned Ikebana, a traditional Japanese flower arranging technique.
Courtenay shared her vibrant smile, mischievous twinkle in her eye, kindness and generous nature with everyone she knew. Courtenay is survived by her mother, Fairfax Roddy Seay, brother Stephen Crosthwaite Seay (Lynn Seay), uncle Edward U. Roddy III, nieces Sarah M.E. Seay and Catherine Harley Seay, partner Michael Lapinski, and her beloved cat Pinkerton. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Jackson Seay and brother Matthew Townsend Seay.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at Calvary Episcopal Church, time to be announced. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com).
