Frances M. (Barone) Taylor Obituary

Peacefully, on Friday December 20, 2024 surrounded by her family, Frances (Barone) Taylor passed away. Fran was 85. Fran was born in the Bronx, NY, and moved to the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh in 1944, where she lived for the rest of her life.

Fran was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma. She valued her faith and family above all else. Fran loved flowers and gardening and was a fixture for more than 30 years at Sestili Nursery, her Aunt Esther and Uncle Max’s business. Fran loved cooking and baking, especially for her family and church functions. Her spaghetti sauce was world-class, and her chocolate chip cookies were out of this world. Fran was devoted to St. Regis Church, where she sang in the church choir, volunteered at the rectory, was a member of the parish council, and a veteran of many church carnivals, fish fries, and spaghetti dinners. Fran was a loving, kind, and caring person, loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Harry (Bill) Taylor; daughters Janet (Tom) Waldron, Karen (Marty) DeKlaven, Debbie (John) Rende, Laurie (Charlie) McLaughlin; and son Mike Taylor. Grandmother to Deanna (A.J.) Wolkiewicz, Jennifer (Nick) Musolin, Johnny Rende, Colin McLaughlin, Alyssa (Bill) Howley, Sean McLaughlin, Kevin Taylor, Liam McLaughlin, and Jarod McLaughlin. Great-grandmother (Gigi) to Olivia Musolin, Adriana Musolin, Aurora Wolkiewicz, and William Howley. Cherished sister of Nick Barone. Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Philomena Barone. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. Funeral Monday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Rosalia Church 11 a.m. At the request of the family, everyone please gather at Church.
