Gerald M. Roeder
On Friday December 2, 2022 at age 95, beloved husband of the late Barbara O’Neill Roeder and Judith Rothstein Roeder; father of Nancy Santagata (Arthur); grandfather of David Santagata; son of the late Frank and Girldine Miles Roeder, Jr. Mr. Roeder was born in 1927 in Port Chester, West Chester County, New York and in April 1945 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve until his discharge in October 1946. He received a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in 1954, and a Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley in 1960. From 1960 to 1982, he worked at the U.S. Steel Research Laboratory in Pittsburgh, and in 1970 was licensed as an architect in Pennsylvania. Beginning in 1982 he worked as an architect in various positions, and in 1995 began working, researching, and volunteering at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History specializing in dinosaurs until his retirement at age 93. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Sunday 4-6 PM. Interment will be in St. Michael’s of the Valley Cemetery, Rector, PA.
