Gloria Sergi Meisner
1928-2022
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, Gloria died peacefully with her family at her side. Gloria was a
trend setter, becoming a pharmacist at a time when few women entered the profession. She
was born in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Mount Mercy High School. She graduated from
Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, fell in love with and married James (Jim) Meisner, a
graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. Together, they purchased Meisner
Pharmacy in Bethel Park and happily served the people of the South Hills until the 1990’s, when they sold the pharmacy and moved to Florida. They were communicants of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Mount Lebanon. Gloria loved being a pharmacist and continued working after they moved to Boynton Beach Florida. She and her husband returned to Pittsburgh to enjoy family, including their young grandchildren. Gloria was loving, spirited, witty and resilient throughout her life.
Gloria is predeceased by her husband of 56 years and her daughter Joan Loughren. She is
survived by her daughter Lorene Smith (Bill) and son, Dr. Dennis Meisner (Susan), five
grandchildren, Dr. Robert Meisner (Jenna), Stephen Meisner (Jenna), Christina Loughren Canty, Lauren Orchosky (Steve), Katherine (Zach Fisher) plus five great grandchildren. The family is grateful to the excellent care she received from Shadyside Geriatrics, UPMC Orthopedics, the nurses and staff at Cumberland Crossing Manor Nursing Center, who cared for her in her final years and days. Funeral Friday, Mass of Christian Burial, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, St. Mary of the Assumption Church 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Gloria’s honor to the Hillman Patient Care Fund where her son, Dennis, worked until his retirement.
