Jacqueline “Jackie” Ferrara, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday March 18, 2026.
Born March 10, 1945, in Missouri’s Bootheel, Jackie experienced early hardship, losing her foster parents at age four and spending her childhood in an orphanage. She later reflected on those years with gratitude, recalling the care, love, and opportunities that helped shape her life.
After graduating from high school, Jackie moved to St. Louis, where she attended Maryville College. On June 22, 1968, she married her beloved husband, Charlie Ferrara. In 1975, they relocated to Pittsburgh, where Charlie led the network office for Northwestern Mutual.
Jackie became a central figure in the community, known for her warmth, hospitality, and ability to make others feel welcome. She shared in countless celebrations—baptisms, weddings, and bar mitzvahs—and opened her home to colleagues, friends, and families, forming lasting relationships across the community.
She was the devoted mother of Peter (Wendy) Ferrara, Carla Ferrara, Matthew Ferrara, and Nicholas Ferrara; and the loving grandmother of Olivia, Enzo, Aidan, and Gabriel.
Jackie was deeply committed to philanthropy. She dedicated more than 20 years to Girls Hope, beginning in 1990, hosting events and supporting its mission. She and her husband were also active in the United Way campaign for over two decades. In later years, she supported The Neighborhood Academy, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.
Jackie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the many lives she touched. MAY SHE REST IN THE PALM OF HIS HANDS.
