Jim passed away peacefully after an extended illness surrounded by family and friends on May 14, 2022 in Roseville, California where he resided for many years. He was born and raised in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh and was the beloved husband of LaVonna “Vonny” Youngberg for 36 years. Jim graduated from Duquesne University and worked in sales for the oil and gas industry. A renaissance man, he enjoyed sports, especially tennis, golf and skiing to mention a few and showed his deep love of classical music by attempting to become a violinist. A voracious reader, with a colorful and engaging personality, Jim especially enjoyed historical biographies and will be remembered for his sense of humor and incredible recall of events and people in his life. Jim is survived by his sisters, Nancy Carey McGinley, Ann Carey Donahue (Chris) and a brother, Bill Carey (Barbara) of Denver, Colorado and his sister-in-law Ann Hughes Carey (wife of Jim's late brother, Bob Carey). He is also the beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Mission, 4700 Liberty Avenue, Bloomfield on Tuesday, June 7th at 4 pm.
