James Russell

Age 81, of Pittsburgh, on February 4, 2022. Born in Savannah, GA on March 10, 1940, son of late Arthur Russell and Mary Lee Gates. Beloved husband, for 34 years, of Donna Lee Russell. Devoted father of Zenola (Marcus) Dewberry, Sandra (Marzell) Turner, Bridgette Howard, Morgan Russell, stepson Frank White Jr, and the late Jennifer Russell. Brother of Lucious (Lottie) Gates, Oliver Gates, Jake Russell, Silas Tommy Gates, Lillie M. (Rev. Hardwick) Griffin, Juanita Gates, Edna M. Hayes, Josephine (Bobby) Robinson, and Angelyne R. (Paul) Johnson.  Grandfather of fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Saturday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, immediately followed by a service in the funeral home. Interment will be in Savannah, Georgia.
