Jeanne Trebec Baker Obituary

Jeanne Trebec Baker, age 95, a beloved resident of Longwood at Oakmont and formerly of Fox Chapel, passed away on Sunday April 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Jeanne graduated from Peabody High School, where she formed lifelong friendships and enjoyed monthly reunions with her close circle of 20 classmates. Her passion for learning led her to further her education by taking classes at La Roche College.
Jeanne found her greatest joy in her role as a devoted mother. She is survived by her children: Walter Alexander “WA” Baker, father of Meghan, Banks (married to Shelby and father of Ben) and Mallory Baker; Susan Baker; Lisa Hoover (married to Daniel Hoover, and mother of Mary and Holly Hoover); Maribeth Baker; and Tracey Marsh (married to Robert Marsh, and mother of Tim and Bennett Marsh). Her love, guidance, and unwavering support enriched the lives of her family and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter C. Baker, who passed away when Jeanne was just 41 years old. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marie Downs-Deasy, and her parents, Peter and Mary Trebec.
A lifelong Pittsburgher, Jeanne was an enthusiastic supporter of her city's sports teams, always cheering for Pittsburgh’s finest with pride and passion. She also delighted in attending the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Pops concerts, finding joy in the music and cultural vibrancy of her hometown. Jeanne dedicated many years to her role at Morewood Galleries in Aspinwall, where she took special joy in helping brides create their wedding registries, spreading warmth and kindness to everyone she served.
Jeanne’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, family, friendship, and service. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Longwood at Oakmont and Heartland Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and care during Jeanne’s time there.
