Joan Fisher Humphrey at age 91 on February 4, 2025. Wife of the late John Jamison Humphrey; mother of David Humphrey (Jennifer Coates), Constance Egan (James), Rebecca Diederich (Thomas), and Margaret Humphrey; sister of the late Constance Fisher Humphrey; also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; daughter of the late Aiken and Jane Fisher. Joan attended Chatham Hall, Smith College, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh (Masters of Social Work). She was a lover of the arts- one of the original members of Carnegie Museum's Women's Committee, Three Rivers Art Festival, and New Music Ensemble, to name a few. She worked at Mayview State Hospital, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, and several nursing homes in the East End. A long-time member of Calvary Church, and once an employee, she later became a staunch atheist. She was a woman of extreme contradictions, often wrong...never in doubt. An avid tennis player, she was the queen of on court trash talking. There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date with non-stop athletics, little food, cheap scotch, dogs and much laughter. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Planned Parenthood.
