John J. Seibel

John J. Seibel, age 81, of Pittsburgh passed away on Saturday April 15, 2023. Son of the late John O. and Margaret Seibel: Loving father of Sean Seibel (Anne Taillandier) and Sara McCombs (Shane): Amazing "Peepaw" to Mia, Mason, Madelyn and Solo: Brother of Robert Seibel: Uncle to Stephen and David Seibel.John grew up on the street corners of Squirrel Hill.  After high school he moved to California with a close group of friends. He always had a desire to see the world and joined the Merchant Marines as a way to fulfill his dreams. He enjoyed a wanderlust lifestyle at sea but settled down with his family in Pittsburgh. If asked, he would say his son and daughter are his greatest accomplishment.  After devoting time to raise his children he went back to sea for many years before retiring from the Merchant Marines. John enjoyed sharing the many photos and stories of his adventures with family, friends and acquaintances.  John was fondly known as "Peepaw" to his grandchildren. You would always find him cheering them on at games or taking them on some adventure around the city.  He loved acting out stories with them and spared no expense to make them laugh. John had many interests that he pursued and enjoyed throughout his life. Being outdoors was  extremely important to him and his day never felt complete unless he had his walk in Frick Park.  You could always find him next to "The Great Monarch" tree. The family will welcome friends to celebrate his life at Frick Park Environmental Center on Sunday June 4, 2023 from 11AM - 2PM.  2005 Beechwood Blvd., Pittsburgh PA 15217.Donations may be made to Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. www. pittsburghparks.org or 317 E.
