Kathryn I. "Tina" Wassermann Obituary

On Friday February 2, 2024 beloved wife of Joseph C. Wassermann; daughter of the late Mary and Amedius Iannuzzo; sister of the late Jo Ann Iannuzzo. Tina was a 1953 graduate of Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children (WPSBC), went onto graduate from Pennsylvania College for Women (soon to be Chatham College) and then onto earn a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Counseling and Guidance. She began her career in Hartford, CT, working with the newly blind helping them to adjust. In 1962, Tina returned to Pittsburgh, where she assumed the position of Social Services Director and Volunteer Coordinator at the WPSBC. Tina and Joe married in 1969 and lived in the Oakland area until a recent move to Longwood at Oakmont in 2022. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogefuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Thursday from 2 - 6p.m. Funeral Friday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10a.m. Remembrances may be made to the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children, 201 N. Bellefield Avenue, Pgh., PA 15213 or the St. Paul Cathedral Parish Food Bank.
