Lori Sue Jennings Obituary

On Sunday December 11, 2022, Lori Sue Jennings of Ellwood City, PA peacefully passed away, surrounded and survived by her husband Robert E Jennings and her three children, Matthew, Nathan, and Molly. Lori was born to John and Martha Ogurcak in Lebanon, PA, and is survived by her five siblings: Paul Ogurcak, Mary Elizabeth (Bette) Kreiser, Robert Ogurcak, John Ogurcak, and Carol Reppert.

Lori graduated from Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon in 1974 and went on to study childhood development at University of Pittsburgh in Bradford, PA., graduating in 1978. She retired as an executive administration assistant with UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA.

Lori and Robert married on February 14, 1984. After spending some years together in Pittsburgh, they bought a house in Ellwood City and quickly turned it into a home. Her greatest joy in life was her three children; those who knew Lori remember how proud she was of her kids. Lori also had a deep fondness for plants that, like anything she touched, blossomed and thrived under her loving hands.

Lori was raised Methodist and practiced quietly, praying and celebrating God in the bountiful nature that surrounded her home.

At the sewing machine, she would meticulously craft elaborate quilts and create clothing from scratch. Give her any nonfiction book, particularly biographies, and she would finish it in what felt like an instant. She’d gleefully enjoy music from Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Wilco, and anyone in between, as she was always willing to give new artists and genres a try. Lori loved everything in life, just not cooking (though her family always looked forward to her famous oven-baked French toast on Christmas morning).

A compassionate friend, caring wife, and doting mother, Lori filled her home and the lives of others with laughter and joy. A memorial service celebrating Lori’s life will be held privately among close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the Jennings family requests donations to be sent in her name to the Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Foundation, which provided Lori much comfort and support throughout the years. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (fryvogelfuneralhome.com).
