Luisa Coraluppi Obituary

Luisa Tonzig Coraluppi

A longtime resident of Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully at her home on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022. She was born on April 6, 1936 in Padova, Italy.

Luisa is survived by her children Sabina, Monica, Chiara (Daniel) and Stefano (Stefania); her grandchildren Antonio (Rachel), Giulia (Dominic), Luisa, Giacomo, Daniela, and Giovanni; and her brother Giovanni and her sister Antonietta with their families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Giorgio; her parents Sergio and Bianca; and her brother Giuseppe.

Luisa was raised in Padova and Milano, Italy. She studied at the Catholic University of Milano, where she obtained the degree of Dottore in Lettere (Classics) in 1958. After her studies, she taught classics at the Istituto Marcelline in Milano until 1964, when she moved with her husband to the United States.

In addition to raising a family, Luisa earned her Doctorate in Roman Catholic Systematic Theology at Duquesne University in 1988. She taught religion at schools in both Italy and Pittsburgh, and Latin and theology at Duquesne University until her retirement in 2003. After her retirement, she never stopped teaching, focusing primarily on her grandchildren.

Luisa devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her love of teaching, striving to touch many lives and to help all those that she could. She was a very active volunteer in the ministries at Sacred Heart Church over several decades. She will be deeply missed by her extended family both in the USA and in Italy, and by her many friends.
