Michael D. Lieberth Obituary

Michael David Lieberth of Oakmont PA departed this earthly life to his heavenly home at his residence after a long illness surrounded by loved ones on Thursday July 25th. A proud native of Pittsburgh, Mike was born in 1951 on the Spring Hill section of “The Northside”. At an early age he found his lifelong calling of fixing and selling cars. He attended North Catholic before moving to Camp Hill PA where he graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in 1969. Mike funded his own college education at York College through hard work at Wannamakers department store as well as buying, fixing and selling cars on the side. After college Mike, began a successful career first as a salesperson then a manager at Corsello Chevrolet in Bellevue. In 1983 he was awarded a Dodge automobile dealership franchise in Oakmont PA where he had over 25 years of success and sales effectiveness at Lieberth & Sons Dodge. In 1999, along with his beloved wife Hildy they opened a second Chrysler Jeep location in Natrona Heights.

Mike was a devoted part of his community serving as President of the Oakmont Rotary Club, Oakmont Lions Club as well as the Pittsburgh Automobile Trade Association now known as GPADA. His public service and dedication to the franchised dealership business culminated in his appointment by Governor Tom Ridge to the Pennsylvania State Board of Vehicle Manufacturers, Dealers and Salespersons on which he served from 1995-2006.

In 2009 Mike was forced into early retirement due to the United States Government’s takeover and reorganization of the Auto Industry. Outside of work Mike was an avid gardener and enjoyed his second home in Naples Florida, as well as special times with his children, grandchildren, and his beloved Maltese “George”.  Mike was predeceased by his most cherished wife of 49 years Hilda Anne (Tyner) Lieberth, his parents Charles and Mildred (Lamping) Lieberth and his brother William. His legacy lives on with his sons Michael Lieberth and his spouse Christine Donahue of Shaler PA, Maximilian Lieberth of Oakmont PA as well as his grandchildren Layla and Emily. He is also survived by siblings Susan, Lori, Heidi and Mitzi. He will be missed dearly but we know God needed another good gardener!
