Michele G. Yann Obituary

Michele (Gittens) Yann passed away at her home Monday morning January 13, 2025, peacefully in her sleep.

She is survived by her two devoted and loving daughters Victoria Michele Yann (Rebecca) and Kelly Christina Yann (Zach), her daughter-in-law Amy, granddaughter Sofia Claire Yann, and her granddog Riley.   She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Arthur Yann Jr., her adored son Arthur Yann III, her mother Helen Ross Gittens, and her father Michael Joseph Gittens.

She was known for her acerbic wit and her turn of phrase, all of which was balanced by a deep love for her family and friends.  She was known for excelling at one of the hardest jobs in the world, motherhood, and she did it with more care and love than any child could ask for.  Before the days of cell phones, she could locate her children no matter where they were. She loved her children ferociously and was also a watchful guardian of all the neighborhood children.  She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
