Nicholas S. "Nick" Varrenti Obituary

November 7, 1954 - November 14, 2024

Nicholas “Nick” Varrenti passed away suddenly on November 14, 2024 after a brief illness. His family and friends are heartbroken. Nick will be missed by his beloved wife Laura (Buccigrossi) Varrenti; cherished children Megan Varrenti, Gabriel Varrenti, Kaitlin Varrenti (Severen Smith) and their mother, Darla Varrenti; sisters Linda Varrenti Hernandez and Nicole Varrenti Redlinger (Andy); brother-in-law Dominic Buccigrossi (Nancy), mother-in-law Donna Buccigrossi (Sam Carlino); nieces Lisa Hernandez (Mark McClinchie), Natalie Hernandez, Aimee Hernandez, Dominique Buccigrossi, Desirae Buccigrossi, and Emma Redlinger.

Nick was “Pap Pap” to his six grandchildren, and his absence will be deeply felt by Peyton, Dominic, Avery, Salvatore, Logan, and Stella: and was the adored Godfather of Santino DePalma. He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Nicholas D. “Nicky” Varrenti, parents Nicholas J. and Marcella (Gabriel) Varrenti, father-in-law Eugene “Eug” Buccigrossi, brother-in-law William “Bill” Hernandez, and niece Bianca Buccigrossi. Nick will also be missed by his many cousins and other family members, as well as countless friends,  colleagues, and “cumps”.

Born and raised in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Nick embraced values that included a strong work ethic, integrity, loyalty, compassion, and a deep faith. He spent his youth playing football, most notably for the Morningside Bulldogs and Central Catholic Vikings, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Nick’s professional career spanned over 45 years in the IT field. Most recently he was a project manager and dedicated employee at Federated Hermes. Throughout his life, Nick faced every difficulty with grace and endless resilience. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and was a devoted friend and role model to many. He never missed the opportunity to dance with those he loved. His broad smile, joy, and radiant light will be sorely missed but forever remembered.

Sogni d’oro, tesoro.
