Paul B. Matthews

On Saturday April 17, 2021, Paul B. Matthews, age 79, of Highland Park. Beloved husband of Karen R. Matthews. Father of Kevin P. Matthews (Kathleen), Alan P. Matthews (Maria), and the late Michael P. Matthews. Grandfather of Ryan, Logan, Cameron, Alaina, and Enzo. Son of the late Frank and Margaret Matthews. Brother of the late Francis Matthews, Linda Matthews, and Faith Paradise. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Paul was born in West Newton, PA in 1942. He grew up in White Oak and graduated from McKeesport High School and attended the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and worked as a medic and x-ray technician serving in an Army Hospital in Japan. After discharge, Paul was employed as a medical photographer at West Penn Hospital for 17 years. He then worked as an ophthalmic and retinal Photographer for Everett & Hurite Associates. Paul also enjoyed creative photography and he submitted photos to the 3 Rivers Arts Festival in the 1970’s and had several photos selected for show and received “honorable mention”. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Wednesday from 1-5p.m. Funeral Thursday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Maria Goretti Parish, Immaculate Conception Church 11a.m. At the request of the family, everyone please meet at church.
