Paul Richard Bridges

Paul Richard Bridges passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born in the South Hills of Pittsburgh on August 31st, 1936.

Paul was a loving spouse, father, grandfather, uncle, sibling, and friend of many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; son John (Carla; Benjamin, age 21; Sara age 14) Bridges. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan. (Eric; Anna age 20; Sam; age 14) He is survived by his sister, Patty (Roger; Debbie; Jim) Dolanch His brother also preceded him in death, Robert (Joan; Beth; Brad; Kirk) Bridges.

Paul attended Mount Lebanon High School before earning his engineering degree from the University Of Pittsburgh, where he played football and was a leader in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. 

During this time, he met Ann Thomas, who would become the love of his life.  Paul dedicated his life to his family and community. Paul placed great importance on education, establishing a needs-based scholarship at Pitt. Paul was an excellent role model, prioritizing hard work and dedication in his family.

After working with Mellon Stuart for many years in increasing positions of responsibility, Paul founded Bridges & Company in 1983. The company has successfully introduced 'Merit Shop' construction to the Steel City and surrounding areas. Paul was active in many engineering organizations and clubs during his life, including the Young Presidents' Organization, The Pittsburgh Golf Club, and the Rolling Rock Club. He was an avid golfer, skier and fisherman who cherished time spent on these activities with his family and friends.

Friends will be received on Thursday, December 26th from 4-7 PM, at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com). Funeral Friday, December 27th, services will be held in the Chapel of Homewood Cemetery (Dallas and Forbes Avenues) at 10 AM.
