Pauline, 101, of O’Hara, passed away peacefully on Friday March 27, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 28, 1925 to the late George and Anna (Yanak) Tomko in South Oakland.
She is survived by her three children, Paul (Monica) Iurlano of O’Hara, Caroline (Tom) Pantone of Shaler, and Tom (Kathy) Iurlano of O’Hara, her beloved grandchildren, Francesca and Tommy, and most special nephew, Wayne Ferens, as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Anne Ferens and Margaret Tomko, and her husband Anthony “Duke” Iurlano.
Pauline was proud of her Byzantine Catholic faith and Croatian nationality. She faithfully went to the Annual Pilgrimage at Mount Saint Macrina for the Sisters of St. Basil since 1934. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church in O’Hara, and a volunteer at the church, St. Margaret Hospital, and a member of the local AARP group. Pauline travelled the world, Italy and Egypt being her favorite, and loved to share memories from her travels. Pauline was blessed with her health and sharp mind her whole life.
Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons Inc., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 2-7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 10AM at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland.
