Richard Kabbert Obituary

RICHARD J. KABBERT

Rick Kabbert passed away on Tuesday June 15, 2021. He is survived by his two sons, William and Michael; mother, Jean; sisters, Alice (Tim) Dibble and Cecilia (Travis) Livengood; niece, Sarah Kabbert. He was preceded in death by his father William J. Kabbert and brother William J. Kabbert, II. Born in Pittsburgh on January 8, 1969 Rick was a Central Catholic High School graduate, and a graduate of Duquesne University Law School. After law school, Rick went on to practice at Dickie, McCamey, and Chilcote. Although an accomplished attorney, Rick’s compassionate nature led him to follow his fervor for soccer and working with the young. Coach Rick served the Pittsburgh community as a coach, Director of Coaching, Director of Player Development, and President of the North Hills Soccer Club; North Hills Middle School boys’ coach; North Hills High School Girls Coach; and beloved coach for FC Pittsburgh. Coach Rick was not only innovative in his coaching techniques for improving the game, but was unique in his capacity to instill teamwork and individual growth. He was more than a coach who changed the game, he was a coach who inspired the lives of his team members. Although a committed, inspirational coach, Rick’s foremost love was for his sons, Will and Michael. From the moment they came into his world, Rick dedicated himself to being a loving, fair and supportive father. There was no greater love in his life than his boys. For those of you whose lives he touched, please remember: without love in the dream, it will never come true. Be kind. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street, on Monday June 21, 2021 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. Funeral Tuesday, June 22, 2021, Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland at 10:00am. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Animal Friends 56 Camp Horne Road Pittsburgh, PA 15237 or Light of Life Ministries 915 Western Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
