Richard Rua Obituary

Richard Allen Rua

Devoted husband, loving father & avid golfer of Siesta Key, Florida, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA and Elmhurst, IL, suddenly on Saturday, June 28, 2025.  Phi Beta Kappa recipient at Vanderbilt University & graduate of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.  Rick began a long and distinguished career at Mellon Bank in 1977.  Much of his thirty-year tenure was dedicated to building a foreign exchange business, which culminated in Rick becoming Executive Vice President and Manager of Mellon Global Foreign Exchange.  A recognized leader in his field, he served on the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Foreign Exchange Committee for more than a decade.  He contributed to many charitable causes, including by serving as a Mellon representative for the United Way.  Rick had an insatiable curiosity and was a lifelong learner.  He always stood ready to help and will be remembered fondly by his colleagues, friends and family for his thoughtfulness, generous spirit and sound advice.  Rick had a great sense of humor and loved golf and music.  He was a former member of Chartiers Country Club and a current member of Sara Bay Country Club.  Off the green, he could be found curating wide-ranging playlists of his favorite songs.  Husband of Debra Ann Rua; father of Christine Rua Harper, Daniel Rua, and Robert Rua; son of the late Ernest J. Rua, Jr. and Rita Marie Canzone Rua & brother of the late Russell L. Rua.  Friends will be received at John A.
