On Tuesday May 27, 2025, Richard L. Connors, beloved fiancé of Susan; brother of Grant Connors (Joanne), Ward Connors (Marcie), Vernon Connors (Mary), John Connors (Julie), and Charlie Connors (Dawn); son of the late Catherine and Regis Connors; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rich was a proud graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School, the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering and the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business. Rich played basketball at Pitt Titusville for two years and then tried out for the 1974 Pitt basketball team after transferring to the main campus. As an accomplished Civil Engineer, Rich's career was heavily involved in the public sector, having served both the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County engineering and public works departments. During his time with Allegheny County, Rich managed the construction of the new Allegheny County Jail; he was also charged with overseeing the maintenance and rehabilitation of many Allegheny County and City of Pittsburgh bridges, including the Sixth Street (Clemente), Seventh Street (Warhol), and Ninth Street (Rachel Carson) bridges. Rich enjoyed being in nature, spending time with horses, traveling, and long walks with Susan. Rich was passionate about all the Pittsburgh sports teams, especially his beloved Pitt Panthers. His family wants to share that “Rich was the most loyal son of Pittsburgh we’ve ever known”.
Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Saturday June 7, 2025 from 9:00 AM until an 11:00 AM Memorial Service in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
