Rita Rossi Russ

On Saturday June 3, 2023, while picking flowers in her garden, the Lord requested the soul of Rita Frances (Rossi) Russ at  Heaven’s Gate. Rita, age 89, was the youngest of 9 children of Tommasina and Domenico Rossi. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank J Russ III, her son W.R.(Bobby) Russ, five brothers and two sisters .

Rita "Nana" was born in Pittsburgh on May 11, 1934. She put her heart and soul into everything she did, touching the lives of many, and leaving countless memories. With her husband Frank, she was the right hand in the family business. She was an avid traveler, loving to visit new places with family and a craft and garden enthusiast, spending immeasurable hours creating gifts for hospitalized children. All who knew her enjoyed her charm, grace, and vibrant personality. This angel of God will truly be missed. She is survived by four children: Frank Russ IV, William (Beth) Russ, Elizabeth (Lonnie) Devier, and Patricia (Andrew) Ohm, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her brother Alfred Rossi. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Wednesday from 6-8p.m. and Thursday 2-4 and 6-8p.m. Funeral Friday, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10a.m. Donations in memory of Rita may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation and the St. Jude Hospital.
