Rolf Gunter Jacob, MD

Rolf G. Jacob, MD, of Oakland/Pittsburgh, PA died on August 7, 2024 of complications associated with Parkinson’s Disease, surrounded by his loving family. Rolf is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, his children, Alexander Jacob, Jesse Jacob, and Alexandra Leibert (Natalie) as well as his sister Barbara Jacob in Sweden, his cousin Sigrid Jacob in Germany. He was deeply loved by all. Rolf was born on December 12, 1942 in Göttingen, Germany and emigrated to Sweden as a young child. He received his medical degree from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in 1971 where upon he moved to the US for his psychiatry internship (UCLA/Stanford) and residency (Stanford) and completed a fellowship in behavioral medicine (Stanford). He moved to the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry in 1979 where he was a physician/scientist, studying anxiety disorders and behavioral medicine. He served as a clinician in anxiety disorders, geriatric
psychiatry (subspecialty certified), and consultation liaison services at Pittsburgh hospitals of UPMC. Rolf was a fellow in the Society of Behavioral Medicine and a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He will be missed by many. Friends will be received at JOHN A.
