Ruth Margaret Ley, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family with an angelic sendoff of nuns at her residence at Little Sisters of the Poor on August 30, 2025. To know Ruth was to love her, and so many were touched by her positivity & generous spirit. Ruth loved to travel, and visited many parts of the world in her younger days. Ruth owned Aunt Ruth's Quilt Shop in Bloomfield, and worked as a bookkeeper at Fazio Mechanical before retiring at age 75. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Clara Ley, her siblings Fred & Chuck Ley and Clara Leo, and her dear friend, Ruth Hartman. She is survived by her nephews & nieces Charles & Marilyn Leo, Edward Hartman, Kathleen Hartman, Nancy & Bill Smay, Linda Hartman & Dana Bell, her devoted caregivers Joyce Kuhl & Jadwiga Tereszkiewicz, and many loved great nephews, nieces & friends. Special thanks to the angels and heroes at Little Sisters of the Poor & UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Monroeville for their loving & amazing care. Friends will be received at Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 on Tuesday, September 16 from 9 AM until 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in the Chapel. Interment will be private at St. Augustine Cemetery in Shaler. Donations may be made in Ruth's memory to Little Sisters of the Poor or Animal Friends. Arrangements by John A. Freyvogel, Inc.
