Shirley Anne Amodeo

Of O'Hara Twp., age 86, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Myelofibrosis. Loving wife of 60 years to the late Samuel T. Amodeo; sister of Alice (Nevergold) Seaman and the late Edward Seaman. Loving mother of Deborah Amodeo (Mark) Krotec, Cathleen Amodeo (Anthony) DiGioia, Mary Amodeo (John) Thompson and the late Thomas Amodeo (Linda); grandmother to Kyra Krotec (Clarke Reed) Tucker, Angela DiGioia (Michael) DeVanney, Mara Krotec (Jason) Baginski, Noelle DiGioia (Michael) Guthrie, Maria DiGioia (Ryan) Stout, Shelby Thompson (Conor) Kingston, Samuel Amodeo, Alex Thompson, Anna Amodeo and Christina Amodeo; great-grandmother to Sebastian Baginski, Eleanor DeVanney, Whitney Tucker, Adeline Baginski, Ashley Tucker, Margaret DeVanney, Gabriella Guthrie, and Anthony Guthrie.

Born to the late Harry and Mildred (Reddy) Nevergold in Pittsburgh, PA, Shirley operated a church preschool during her childrens’ younger years. Her passions included sewing, embroidery, and culinary arts. After her children were grown, Shirley worked as a travel agent for Alpern Travel Company in Shadyside, herself an avid travel enthusiast (especially to the Outer Banks and St. Barths). In recent years, Shirley’s favorite activities included amateur astrology and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Shirley lived a joyous life of faith and dedication, valuing her family above all else. Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc. (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street on Friday, September 9 from 3-7p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
