Sr. Kathleen Kelly, SSND. Obituary

Sister Kathleen Kelly, S.S.N.D., entered eternal life on Thursday, October 17, 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland Sister Kathleen Kelly, S.S.N.D. was the daughter of the late John W. Kelly and Elizabeth O’Toole Kelly. Sister Kathleen was preceded in death by her above-named parents, as well as her siblings, Regina Kelly, Father John W. Kelly, C.S.S.R., Martin Kelly, Gerard Kelly and Sister Ursula E. Kelly, S.S.N.D. and Sister Elizabeth Marie Kelly, S.S.N.D. Kathleen received her education at Saint Philomena Grade School in Squirrel Hill, Holy Angels Academy in Fort Lee, NJ, and Duquesne University. Her ministry of elementary school teaching began in St. Ann, Baltimore, MD, and continued at St. Jane Frances in Riviera Beach, MD, where she also became the CCD Coordinator. She continued as Director of Religious Education at St. Scholastica Parish, in Aspinwall, PA. Sister Kathleen retired in 2008 at her family residence, Villa Regina Community, where she cared for her remaining family members. Since June of 2018, Sister Kathleen lived at Villa Assumpta and Rosary Community in Baltimore, MD. In May of 2023, Sister Kathleen celebrated her Gold/Ruby Jubilee (70 years) as a School Sister of Notre Dame. She lived her commitment to God and her devotion to the Blessed Mother with always a sparkle in her eye! Friends will be received at John A. Freyvogel Sons, Inc., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Tuesday October 22 and Wednesday October 23 from 4-6p.m. Funeral Thursday October 24, Mass of Christian Burial, St. Paul Cathedral 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the retirement fund of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, 6401 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21212.
