Susan Ann Heinemann Gordon died peacefully at home on July 20, 2023 at 48 after an extremely courageous and remarkably long 18 year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Tom; her father, Frank Heinemann; her sister, Cynthia Buckholt; her nieces, Amanda and Kristen Buckholt; and her nephew, John Buckholt. Susan was a beautiful person who enjoyed life and people immensely, and succeeded in all she did. She was an excellent tennis player, an accomplished climber, a fine musician and singer, a successful banker and lawyer, a devoted family member, an avid traveler and walker, and an unnaturally kind, patient, tolerant and loving wife. Susan's kindness, intelligence, humor, perceptiveness and profound ethical sense made the world around her a better, kinder and more enjoyable place. Her memory will continue to inspire. Susan's body lost an eighteen-year battle with cancer on July 20th. Susan's soul and Susan's spirit remain forever triumphant. Donations to help fund cancer research or promote cancer prevention efforts will be sincerely appreciated, as will any contributions to the National Aviary, humane shelters, or any other organization that promotes kindness to animals, including human beings.
