Theodore “Teddy” Torlidas, age 79, of Squirrel Hill fell asleep in the Lord on April 10, 2025 after a long illness. Teddy was born on July 3, 1945 to Iphigenia and Louis Torlidas and raised in Shadyside, the youngest of three children. He attended Staunton Military Academy, Peabody High School and Point Park College.
Teddy was a decades-long subscriber to The Poetry Foundation until his death. He was an accomplished writer of poetry and prose who blessed his family and friends with real letters. He loved bouzouki music and shared that love with the entire neighborhood every time The Greek Hour radio show was on.
He is survived by his sister, Penelope Falck; niece Maria (Larry) Reina of Port Chester, NY; nephew Robert Falck of Long Island, NY; niece Iphigenia (Dan) Willow of Pittsburgh, nephew Louis Torlidas of Pittsburgh, and sister in law Chrissoula Torlidas. He is preceded in death by his brother, William Torlidas.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 14, 2025 at St. George Chapel of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cemetery, 8941 Ringeisen Road, Allison Park, PA 15101 from 10 a.m. until an 11 a.m. funeral service.
